Q: Could you please tell me how can set BD admin of Delphi 7 in Vista Business edition. I can cannot save the Native Drive configuration and when I press save to
IDAPI32.CFG system hangs or give message not responding.
A: Most of the issues coming under VISTA is because of permissions.
you can override this by following steps and i hope it will solve your issues.
Make a copy of the idapi32.cfg file (normally found in "program files\common files\borland shared\bde") in a directory OUTSIDE the 'program files' directory

Start the BDE Admin by going to the BDE directory in Windows Exploder(file name bdeadmin.exe), and right-click>properties>comaptibility>show settings for all users> then
uncheck all options and make sure only one option checked tht is "Run this program as administrator" and click ok on this and previous dialog box.
now u can do changes in configuration file. It's better to have one new and make sure netdir is not root(c:\).
When you exit, you should be asked if this is to be your default config file. Answer yes.

Q: I have msn messenger & Yahoo messenger which were working fine, one week ago they are both not working, i guess there is closed port needed to be opened. i would appreciate if you can guide me to let Messengers working again please. I have windows 2003 and ISA 2006.
A: even if you allow your IP or username with full access one more thing you have to make sure, that is your ip or username is not in the deny list. Because ISA is giving priority to deny. If deny is not present it will move to allow. verify the deny policy and if your ip/username exist pls remove it first and then make a new policy which just allow all traffic, so as it must work.

Q: My swith is getting hanged intermediatly and the IP is not getting renewed. Why is this happening and at normal condition i had to swith of and switch on it again. how to slove the case?
A: Its SWITCH complaint. my experience 3com and Edimax have this problem. nothing but you have to change switch.
other possibilities are collision and looping. as you know same ip got to 2 different devices make collision and a cable connected from one port to another port of same switch is looping. Well i prefer to check these possibilities and then go for changing switch.

Q: Our company has got 2 offices in 2 different locations. Currently all the server is kept in location A and location B is connected through Wireless network. Location B having 20 computers and each computers is on the LAN through Wireless Network. The speed is very slow and always need to wait for long time and it seems that DSL line is not available at the moment.
We are planning to setup a server in Location B and location A server and Location B server will be connected through Wireless and all computer in the location B will connect through the New Server installed in location B. Does it make the operations faster?
A: Sure you can keep a server at location B and make it sync with location A.
MS SQL >2000 is supporting such a sync named replication in nice way.
In terms of AD(Active Directory), 2003 is having not very good but 80% reliable mirroring. The new sever 2008 OS is supporting read only active directory which is having great features.
In your case, if you just look db replication and authorization. its simple to keep a 2003 server as child server and configure MS SQL to replicate with location A sql server. in addition if you want file sync its very simple procedure and you have to enable file sync from explorer and make sure you doing it at non office time.
